How Much Notice?

Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up.

I am writing down people to invite to my family holiday party.

Then, I realize Thanksgiving is less than a month away. Forget planning such a feast that sits 12.

Next, I think Christmas but then am quesiting myself again......

Many people already got their plans for the upcoming holidays set in stone.

I know I did last year when I reserved airline tickets to see my siblings in Texas last year.

So, how much notice do you give to your guests?

Thanks,

Jessica

It's funny for my side of the family we will plan at least 1 month in advance but for my husband's side, it's lucky that I even get a weeks notice of an event coming up.  I also, then on top of that, have to put in their invitation to be here at least ihour prior to the start time to makesure everyone actually gets here pretty close to on time

I think if you want to plan something for Thanksgiving it is still not too late but make sure you get those invites out no later than Monday

I think you still have time to invite people to your Thanksgiving Party.  My husband's whole family is out of town and we don't even start to talk about Thanksgiving until Halloween is out of the way.  They came for Christmas last year so I'm pretty sure they will be in town for Thanksgiving this year.  We'll talk this week and start getting things planned.

Good luck!

Unless we go out of town for Thanksgiving, it is held here. So since we are not going anywhere this year (we went last year) we let everyone know that we are getting ready for the feast at our house. As far as I know, the whole family is aware of this but just to be safe I usually send out an email sometime between Nov 1 and 5. As for Christmas, not sure what we will be doing-we are the only other house (besides inlaws) that have a formal dining room so we can fit everyone. We usually decide at Thanksgiving dinner-it would be nice if someone else would volunteer but again, since we have the room it is usually us. I don't mind b/c for both dinners everyone brings a dish or two so we don't have to cook everything and everyone always helps to clean up.
